# Job Search Proof Kit: free preview

Three of the 14 prompts from the kit, and one worked example. Sam is a made-up person. Nothing here needs any tools except a free AI chat.

The idea: build a bank of true, checkable stories first (a Proof Bank). The AI then writes only from your proof, and a final Claim Check catches anything you cannot back up.

## PB1: The interviewer: build my Proof Bank

**Use when:** Once for each job you have had. Takes 10 to 15 minutes per job.

**You provide:** the job title, employer, years, and any rough notes you have (or the word none)

```
You are a careful career interviewer. Help me build a Proof Bank for ONE job, using only what I tell you. Never invent, assume or improve anything.
The job: [JOB TITLE], [EMPLOYER OR "a small shop"], [START YEAR] to [END YEAR OR "now"]
My rough notes (optional): [PASTE NOTES OR WRITE "none"]
How to work:
1. Ask me ONE question at a time and wait for my answer. Ask 8 to 12 questions in total. Start with the biggest thing I did.
2. Dig for: the problem, what I did myself, what changed afterwards, any number (how many, how often, how long, how much), and who or what could confirm it. Right after I tell you what changed, ask once whether I am sure my action caused it. If I give an opinion about myself (for example "I was fast"), never record it as a result: ask me once what record or person could back it up. If I have nothing, write "opinion only" and give that entry Confidence: Low.
3. If I do not know a number, accept that and write [?]. Never guess it.
4. If I give a rough number, keep my exact words and label it "about".
5. When I say "done" (or after question 12), write up to 6 entries in exactly this format. Inside an entry write only facts I gave you, with [?] for gaps. Skills must be words I used or the plain task I described, never inferred. Put any notes in one "Notes" section after the last entry, never inside an entry.
ENTRY 1: (short title)
Situation:
Action:
Result:
Numbers: (only numbers I gave, or [?])
Evidence: (who or what could confirm it)
Skills:
Confidence: High (exact and checkable) / Medium (my own estimate) / Low (memory only)
Ask your first question now.
```

Answer in plain words, like you would tell a friend. Say 'I don't know' when you do not know: that is a good answer here.

## J1: Decode the job post

**Use when:** Every time you find a job you might apply for.

**You provide:** the full text of the job post

```
Read the job post below. Do not add anything that is not in it.
JOB POST:
[PASTE THE FULL JOB POST]
Give me, in this order:
1. MUST-HAVES: what the post states as required. Quote the exact words.
2. NICE-TO-HAVES: wording like "preferred", "a plus" or "bonus". Quote it.
3. KEYWORDS: the skills, tools and phrases the post repeats. Maximum 15, exactly as written.
4. WHAT THEY MOST CARE ABOUT: two or three priorities that show in the duties or the first paragraph. Label each "my reading" and give the quote that suggests it.
5. QUESTIONS TO ASK THEM: five neutral questions about the role that the post does not answer.
6. WATCH-OUTS: anything unclear or unusual (missing pay, very broad duties, requests for money, ID numbers or bank details). Write "none seen" if there are none.
Plain text. Short lines. Do not guess the company's size, culture or pay.
```

Save the answer: you will paste parts of it into the next prompts.

## CC1: The Claim Check

**Use when:** Always, before you send anything. Use a fresh chat.

**You provide:** your Proof Bank (with your fact sheet) and the resume and letter you plan to send

```
You are a strict fact checker, not an editor. Check my resume and cover letter against my Proof Bank only.
MY PROOF BANK AND FACT SHEET: [PASTE PROOF BANK AND FACT SHEET]
MY RESUME: [PASTE RESUME]
MY COVER LETTER: [PASTE COVER LETTER OR WRITE NONE]
Make a table with ONE row for EVERY factual claim: each bullet, number, job title, employer, date, tool, result and skill. Columns:
Claim | Where it appears | Supported by (entry number or "none") | Verdict | Honest fix
Verdicts:
Supported = same meaning, same numbers and same narrowing words as the Proof Bank.
Exaggerated = the Proof Bank supports something smaller or different (for example "led" when I "helped").
Unsupported = a number, a result, leading or managing people, or a project or scope that no entry supports.
Not in bank = a plain skill, tool, detail or date that might be true, but nothing I gave you shows it.
Rules: do not use outside knowledge to decide something is probably true. Numbers, years and dates must match exactly: check every year in my documents against my fact sheet and entries. After the table list every row that is not Supported, then "Questions for me" for anything I must confirm. Do not rewrite my documents.
```

Do this in a new chat so the AI is not influenced by the earlier drafting. Fix every row that is not Supported, then run it again.

## What the Claim Check found (worked example)

Sam's first draft came from a generic prompt. Sam ran CC1 in a new chat against the real Proof Bank. These are the first rows of the table it returned:

```
Claim | Where | Supported by | Verdict | Honest fix
Reduced first-response time by 35% | Bullet 1 | E1 (change in first reply time is [?]) | Unsupported | Remove the 35%. Say what you did: rewrote the 14 most-used replies. Add a real number only when you get it from the report.
Redesigned the 14 most-used support replies | Bullet 1 | E1 | Supported | Use the word in E1: "rewrote".
Led a cross-functional team of 5 support agents | Bullet 2 | none | Unsupported | Remove. E4 shows you trained 2 new hires; that is the honest version.
Through a CRM migration | Bullet 2 | none | Unsupported | Remove. No entry shows a CRM migration.
Improving customer satisfaction scores | Bullet 2 | none | Unsupported | Remove. No score or result is in the bank.
Phoned customers about orders over $300 delayed more than 5 days | Bullet 3 | E2 | Supported | None needed.
About 3 to 4 calls a week | Bullet 3 | E2 | Supported | None needed. Keep the word "about".
Trained new hires | Bullet 4 | E4 | Supported | Add the exact number: 2 new hires in 2024.
```

Rows that are not Supported
- "Reduced first-response time by 35%" (Unsupported)
- "Led a cross-functional team of 5 support agents" (Unsupported)
- "Through a CRM migration" (Unsupported)
- "Improving customer satisfaction scores" (Unsupported)
- "HubSpot" (Not in bank)
- "Customer Success" as a skill (Not in bank)

The check caught a number Sam never had (35%), a team Sam never led, a migration that never happened and a skill Sam never used. Any one of those can end an interview, or a job.

*Example output written with Claude on 27 Oct 2026 by following the prompt above on Sam's made-up facts. Your result will differ.*

## Quality checks

- Read every line the AI gives you. You are the final check.
- Never paste phone numbers, home address, ID or bank details, or confidential employer information into an AI chat.
- No result is guaranteed. The kit helps you write clearly and truthfully; it cannot promise interviews or jobs.

This preview is free. The full kit has the guide (HTML and PDF), all 14 prompts, templates, a tracker and printable cards, as listed on its product page.
