Meet Kilo Code

Kilo Code gives developers an agentic coding workspace across supported IDE and command-line workflows. It fits people who want to choose between local models, provider keys and a managed inference gateway. The client and the model bill are separate decisions. Start with a small task and identify the selected provider before letting the agent work. Free software access does not imply that a long hosted session has no cost. Choose a simpler editing assistant if model configuration and agent execution add more complexity than the task needs.

Getting started (documentation-based; not a hands-on product test):

  1. Install the official extension or CLI.
  2. Choose a provider and review how its usage is charged.
  3. Define a small task with files and an acceptance check.
  4. Inspect the diff, test the result and review usage.

Example task (illustrative): Add one accessible label to a known form control and verify keyboard behavior.

Check the result against your original input and the stated plan limits. Sources reviewed on 11 October 2026 are linked below.
