How to use ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini in your job search: a free 10-step guide for real people
A free series of ten copy-ready prompts for job seekers who send applications and hear nothing back. You pick one target job, write down what you really did, read the job post, tailor your resume and cover letter from true material, check every claim, follow up, reach real people, practise for interviews and prepare for the offer. Every prompt works in a free AI chat.

Who it is for
Job seekers anywhere in the world who are sending applications without replies, changing careers, or returning to work, and who want to use a free AI chat honestly and carefully.
What you will have at the end
A clear target job, a short written record of your real work, a tailored and checked resume and cover letter, a simple tracker, short messages to real people, practice answers built from your own examples and a calm plan for silence, rejection and an offer. The series cannot promise interviews or a job, and you check every line yourself.
What you need
- A free AI chat account (ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini)
- Your current resume as plain text, with personal details removed before you paste
- About 20 to 40 minutes per episode
- A notes app or a document to keep your answers and your tracker
- Willingness to check each answer yourself, because the AI can get facts wrong
How it works: each episode gives one prompt and a short list of things to check by hand. The examples follow a fictional job seeker, and you change five keywords (job, background, country, employer type and AI chat) once to fill every prompt with your own details.

Using AI honestly in a job search
AI is a helper for polishing your own true material, not a source of facts about you. Never let it invent a job, a number, a skill or a qualification, and read every line before you send it. Leave out personal details such as your home address, ID numbers and other people's contact details before you paste anything into a chat. Employers have different rules about AI in applications, so check each job post and your country's rules. No tool or method can promise you a job.

Questions about using AI for a job search
Is this series really free, and do I need a paid AI?
Yes, the series is free to read and use. You only need a free AI chat such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. The steps work the same in any of them. Paid tools can be faster or write a little better, but nothing in these ten steps depends on paying for anything.
Will this get me hired?
No one can promise that, and we will not. Hiring depends on the job market, the employer, timing and many things you cannot control. What the series can do is help you send clearer, truer applications and prepare better, so you give yourself a fairer chance and waste less time.
Will the AI make things up on my resume?
It can. AI chats sometimes add skills, numbers or job titles that sound right but are not yours. That is why the series starts from your own true examples and gives you a short checking list in Step 6. If you cannot explain a line out loud, it comes out.
Can employers tell I used AI?
Sometimes. Writing that is smooth but generic, with stock phrases and no real detail, is the easiest to spot. Tools that claim to detect AI are not fully reliable either. The safer habit is to use AI as a helper, put in your own facts and words, and check everything before you send it.
Is it safe to paste my resume into an AI chat?
Be careful. Leave out things you do not need to share, such as your phone number, home address, ID numbers and private details about other people. Check the privacy and data settings of the tool you use. You can add your contact details back into your own document at the end.
Do I need a different resume for every job?
Not a brand-new one each time. Most people keep one true base list of their work and adjust the parts that matter for each job post. Step 3 and Step 4 show a simple way to do that, changing the emphasis and wording without changing the facts, dates or titles.
I have no experience, or I am changing careers. Can I still use this?
Yes. The method starts with real things you have done, which can include school, volunteering, family responsibilities, side projects and tasks from past jobs in other fields. Step 1 and Step 2 help you find what is relevant and describe it honestly, without pretending to be someone you are not.
Why does the series not use an auto-apply tool?
Sending hundreds of applications automatically can mean sending untrue, untailored or repeated text under your name, and it skips the human side of job hunting. This series teaches slower, checked steps. It is your name on every application, so you stay in control of what is sent.
